Words and Music by April Silzer, orchestrated by Leah Van Maaren
A song by my good friend, April Silzer. She sang this for me almost two years ago, and I was so moved by the words that one day I told her I'd play with it and see what I could add. And finally I sat down to play with it and the piano part just hit me and seemed to fit with the motion of the song.
VERSE 1
I have lived in the darkness
For far too long
I have tasted the pain
of a simple song
I should follow you only
But I'm not that strong
CHORUS
You are Ancient of Days
You are deserving of all praise
You are lifted up always
You are Father
VERSE 2
The path of fear and sorrow
Is full of pain and strife
How I long for that tomorrow
And the promise of new life
CHORUS
VERSE 3
So I turn in confession
On my knees I bow
Well you've taught me a lesson
My sin you'll not allow
I understand dear Savior
Why you died for me
CHORUS
BRIDGE
I now live in the day light
Forgiveness I've found
I will fight the good fight
On this solid ground
CHORUS
You are Ancient of Days
You are deserving of all praise
You are lifted up always
You are, you are,
You are, you are Father
